Celebrating 100 Years
In 2026, Car Colston & Screveton Women’s Institute celebrates its centenary, marking an extraordinary 100 years at the heart of village life.
Founded in 1926, during the early years of the WI movement in Britain, reaching this milestone is a significant achievement for a village WI. For a full century, generations of local women have come together through friendship, learning, shared interests and community life.
Much has changed since 1926, but the WI has remained a constant, creating friendships, bringing people together and playing its part in the life of Car Colston and Screveton.
Here’s to 100 years of Car Colston & Screveton WI and to the next chapter of its story.
What do we get up to?
Visit the Cinema from time to time in a group - particularly good if you have no keen cinema goers in your house!
Walk for a few easy miles, usually the last Friday of the month and finish at a nearby pub for coffee and cake!
Play whist, darts and bridge regularly
Join in WI County events from time to time
Social Events
May: Lunch or tea at a member's home
August: Barbecue and Booze evening
October: Party when we can invite a guest
Join other local WIs for 2 meetings a year
...at least one outing!
