Caffè Velo Verde

Great coffee, good food and a warm welcome in the heart of Screveton

Tucked away at Home Farm on Car Colston Road, Caffè Velo Verde is one of Screveton’s best-known local destinations. Part café, part cycling hub and part community meeting place, it has built a loyal following among local residents, cyclists, walkers and visitors from much further afield.

Originally created from a shared love of cycling, great coffee, food and bringing people together, Caffè Velo Verde has become much more than a stopping point for cyclists.

You are just as welcome arriving on foot, with friends or simply popping in for coffee and cake.

Food & drink

The café serves speciality barista coffee made using single-origin beans alongside a wide selection of teas and hot drinks.

There is also a substantial café menu, ranging from bacon and sausage cobs, toasties and sandwiches to avocado on sourdough, porridge, Belgian waffles and homemade cakes. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices are available and the team can help with other dietary requirements and allergies.

Caffè Velo Verde is fully licensed and also serves a selection of beers, ciders, wines and other drinks.

A favourite with cyclists - but not just for cyclists

Cycling is at the heart of Caffè Velo Verde and there are plenty of thoughtful facilities for riders, including:

  • bike racks and locks

  • charging points

  • a toolbox and inner tubes

  • a cleat cleaning station

  • drinking water

  • energy gels, chews and bars

It was also the first Geraint Thomas Cycling Club approved cycling café and has previously been recognised in national cycling café awards.

However, you certainly do not need a bike to visit. The café welcomes walkers, runners, families, groups and anyone looking for somewhere relaxed to meet.

Outdoor seating and dogs

There is a large outdoor seating area with some covered seating. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas and should be kept on leads. Assistance dogs are welcome inside.

Larger groups of eight or more are advised to book ahead, particularly at busy times.

Events

Caffè Velo Verde also hosts special events and occasional evening openings throughout the year. Keep an eye on its website and social media for forthcoming dates.
